The Ultimate

We live in a mysterious place. Think of our universe after the big bang. That’s us. Now for a moment think of what could be or what could have been. Everywhere forever. Might there have been big bangs over and over again? Maybe they’re still going on? Maybe millions, simultaneously, forever? We can stretch our imaginations lots of ways, but for the moment let’s stick to the here and now. That is mystery enough.
One thing I’m sure we can agree on is that whatever happens is caused to happen. Things don’t just happen; They’re caused to happen. The Big Bang was caused somehow about 16 and 1/2 billion years ago. And that’s a mystery. End of what we know, but the BB brought about an effect which then brought about another, maybe multiple effects, but always cause and effect, cause and effect, and here we are. But we really don’t know.
Here we are with a planet filled with with fish, birds, insects, animals and people, with different climates and seasons,, with order and beauty, with art and music. To claim that it is all from some (unexplained) protons and atoms falling like dominoes is not possible. To think it is all an accident, all a mindless sequence of material causes and events is contrary to logic and reason.
In the end there is something or nothing, but iIt cannot be nothing. There must be something, and there has to be in that something some overall intention and purpose. Otherwise there would be nothing. Nothing to think about nothing.
Call it what you will. Use whatever labels you want, but existence cannot be the effect of mindless causation. It’s greater than that. Say Allah, Great Spirit, the Light, OM, God. Use any label you want, the name doesn’t count. Use names from mythology: Adoni, Gaia, Zeus, Cronus, Pan. Call it anything, but in the end there must be some kind of theism.
