China Then and Now

June 13, 2021

Napoleon, it is alleged, said “God help the world when the Chinese learn to shoot”.  Well, the Chinese have learned to shoot—and to invest, and to move diplomatically into other countries, and to equal and even exceed other world technologies, and to move in space as other countries do, and to govern by subduing (they’re still working on this) any political opposition, and to become along with Russia and the USA, one of the present three great countries in the world.  Even Napoleon with his foresight would be a little surprised.

China, like Russia, is not a democracy. China, after the British Empire faded away after  WWII, became a Communist country. It still is. China, therefore, like Russia, is a country where there are many cultural and religious restrictions.

There is no longer a China Inland Mission. It has become the       OMF, the Overseas Missionary Fellowship. Bibles are now banned except for certain officially approved exceptions. Christianity is not welcome in China or Russia, and one must be very careful when trying to determine just how welcome it is in the USA, that is the Christianity of the Sermon on the Mount. That Christianity is not really welcome very enthusiastically anywhere. You decide.
